Bowling is Good Family Fun

I bowl. My parents bowl, my grandparents bowl, and rumor has it my great grandparents were not strangers to the sport. So it is only logical that since I was steady enough on my feet to carry an 6lb sphere two steps and hurtle it down the alley, I too have been bowling. I am only slightly obsessed. I have my own shoes, because I hate rentals. I have my own wrist guard, because I have weak wrists. And I have my own bag to carry my own balls in. I love to bowl. Sometimes people cannot tell, because I take it very seriously, but even my worst games are enjoyment in and of themselves.
My favorite thing about bowling: doing it with friends. Drew and I try to go every week, regardless of who else wants to go with us. We don't usually talk too much when we go, if it is just the two of us, but that isn't the point. We are there to throw heavy objects at defenseless little pins. It IS cathartic. We are there to commend one another on good shots, to heckle when the other one is having a good game, and to console when one of us is doing terribly. Sometimes it is nice to have something you do, just for the sake of getting together.
Last week, Mandy and Bridget joined us, as Mandy often does, not to bowl but to act as cheerleaders. Last night, Abe and Rachel actually bowled. We had the guy put up the bumpers for the second game. This threw me off, but made for a great bit of fun!
We will continue with the invites, and at some point you should join us. Until then, find something that you do just because you like it, and have fun with it!
